6 Key Dates to Grow Your Business in Oman

Your Marketing Calendar · Oct 2026 – Jan 2027. Six key dates in Oman: what to sell, post and advertise, and when to start. Official National Day dates, estimated dates marked, and a website checklist.

Peyman Mokarram

Oman announces its national and religious holidays a year ahead. The two Eids are the exception: they are set by the moon sighting (Arabian Business, Times of Oman). That makes planning easier than most businesses think. The dates below are checked against those sources, and every date that is still an estimate is marked.

For every date, ask four questions: what do we sell, what do we post, which ads do we run, and what has to be ready on our side?

1. Omani Women's Day: 17 October#

Oman marks Omani Women's Day every 17 October (Oman Observer).

  • Sell: gifts and appreciation offers. Feature businesses led by women.
  • Post: real stories from women on your team or among your clients, with their permission.
  • Ads: at most a light boost of the story post to your Muscat audience. Skip discount banners.
  • Prepare: today. Keep the tone as recognition, not a sale.

2. Halloween: 31 October#

Halloween is not an Omani occasion, but it gives businesses that serve expats and families a reason to run a themed offer.

  • Sell: themed menus and desserts, costumes, kids' parties and décor.
  • Post: a themed menu reveal, behind-the-scenes content or a costume contest.
  • Ads: a short local run aimed at families and expats in Muscat.
  • Prepare: from 20 October. Keep the tone light and family-friendly, and avoid anything that could offend local values.

3. Diwali: about 8 November#

Most sources put the main Diwali day on Sunday 8 November 2026. Sunset and ritual timings differ by city, so confirm locally (Hindutone).

  • Sell: gifts, sweets, jewellery, home décor and travel.
  • Post: a warm greeting in the community's own style. Shops can add a gifting guide.
  • Ads: gift-guide ads aimed at the community in Oman, running the week before.
  • Prepare: one week before.

4. The shopping run: 11 to 30 November#

11.11, Black Friday (27 November) and Cyber Monday (30 November) arrive in one stretch.

  • Sell: offers. If you sell services, a free audit or consultation protects your brand better than a discount.
  • Post: countdown stories and "what's inside" teasers.
  • Ads: retarget people who visited your website or profile in the last 30 days, and send them to the offer page.
  • Prepare: by 5 November, your offer page, WhatsApp and checkout should be tested on a phone.

5. National Day: 25 and 26 November#

National Day is an official holiday on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November 2026. Some third-party calendars list 18 or 20 November. Those are wrong for this year. National Day 2027 is shown as 20–21 November in one third-party calendar, so confirm it once Oman publishes its 2027 list.

  • Sell: family offers and gifts. B2B businesses can send clients a thank-you.
  • Post: a respectful greeting and stories of local pride. This is not the day for memes.
  • Ads: a greeting-led brand ad. Keep the hard offer for after the holiday.
  • Prepare: start on 10 November. Update your holiday hours on your website and Google profile before the break.

6. The winter season: from 24 December#

Christmas and New Year matter most for hospitality, restaurants and customers from the expat community. The Muscat Nights festival has run from late December into late January in past winters (23 December to 21 January in 2024–25), but its 2027 dates have not been announced (Oman Observer). Whether 1 January 2027 will be a public holiday is also not yet announced.

  • Sell: dining, outings, events and family plans.
  • Post: "Winter in Muscat" guides and itineraries.
  • Ads: promote the guide to residents and visitors in Muscat.
  • Prepare: from 1 December, refresh your Google photos and opening hours.

The website checklist before every date#

95.3% of people in Oman are online (DataReportal, Digital 2026). On each date above, customers search, compare and message before they visit. Before you spend on ads, check these six things:

CheckWhy it matters
Opening hours and holiday hours are correct on your site and Google profileA closed door on a holiday costs the sale and the review
One page for the offer, with a clear buttonAds and posts need a destination that converts
WhatsApp button works on mobileA customer who is ready to ask should be one tap away
The page loads fast on a phoneIn Deloitte and Google's study of 37 European and American brands, a 0.1-second faster mobile site raised retail conversions by 8.4% (web.dev)
Arabic and English both read wellMachine translation and mixed layouts look careless on a holiday
Delivery or booking cut-off dates are visiblePrevents last-minute disappointment

FAQ#

When is Oman National Day in 2026?#

National Day is an official holiday on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November 2026, according to the holiday schedule announced by the Ministry of Labour.

Is Halloween worth marketing in Oman?#

It is not an Omani occasion, so keep it small and family-friendly, and aim it at the customers who celebrate it: expat families, kids' venues, cafés, restaurants and shops. Use themed offers and a short local ad run, and avoid anything that could offend local values.

Does Oman announce its public holidays in advance?#

Yes. Oman publishes its national and religious holidays a year ahead, except Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, which are set by the moon sighting.

How early should a business start preparing for a big date?#

Three to six weeks is a good rule for the large dates, such as National Day. Smaller dates need one to two weeks. Start with your website, WhatsApp and Google profile, then plan the content and ads.

What should I change on my website before a holiday?#

Check your opening hours, offer page, WhatsApp button, delivery or booking cut-off dates, and page speed on mobile. Add the holiday to your Google Business Profile hours.

Is a free audit better than a discount on Black Friday?#

For service businesses, often yes. A free audit or consultation attracts serious buyers and protects your pricing, while a discount can make a premium brand look cheap.

Which ads work best around National Day?#

Keep the tone respectful. A greeting-led brand ad suits the day itself, and the hard offer works better right after the holiday.
